Biography
Dr Tankesh Kumar have been trying to find out the role of sleep in consolidation of fear conditioned memory from the past 10 years. He always raise the questions (i) if sleep is important for fearful memory consolidation then what time of the day will have more or less impact and its pivotal causative mechanism (ii) Different sleep stage has distinct role in memory consolidation and formation. So, which sleep stage (NREM/ REM and both) or sleep homeostasis might be playing permissible role for fear memory consolidation. It is being discussed globally from several years that how to erase bad/negative memories in human. Our results that post-learning NREM sleep facilitates CuFC memory consolidation suggest that short-term sleep deprivation soon after experiencing traumatic events could potentially be used to prevent the consolidation of negative memories. However, it needs further study, mainly on human subjects before the approach is adapted for therapeutic use
